Our Roots in Wealth Management Run Deep
Hawthorn is a part of The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. a leading financial institution founded in the mid-1800s. As such, we have a long legacy of helping affluent individuals and families realize both immediate and multi-generational goals.
In 1991, a separate business segment was created to serve PNC's ultra-wealthy clients and Hawthorn, as it came to be called, quickly grew into the "crown jewel" of wealth management services. The firm adopted the image of the Hawthorn tree to symbolize its strong roots in wealth management and the great protection afforded to all who stood beneath its branches.
With the acquisition of Mercantile in 2007, Hawthorn significantly expanded its presence and professional organization in the Mid-Atlantic region, particularly the attractive Baltimore and Washington, D.C. markets.
In 2009, National City's ultra-affluent division, Sterling, became a part of Hawthorn. This added natural momentum to the organizational expansion already afoot at Hawthorn.
Today, Hawthorn is one of the largest U.S. multi-family office service providers with hub concentrations in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Wilmington and Cleveland. The national practice provides integrated wealth management to families and individuals with investable assets of at least $20 million. It serves over 550 client relationships with $24.5 billion of assets under management and $37.1 billion of trust assets under administration, as of March 31, 2013.
